Storyline is ‘action in a novella or a film; the red thread’ in an English dictionary. We can describe storyline, create a place and characters and let things happen…
It is a pedagogical method that we can call active learning process. This method is based on respect between teacher and students. The teacher asks questions to lead the story on, but also participates in the pupils activities as an organiser and helper. The pupils are free to choose whatever results. A story has to include time, place, characters, key questions, activities. The story describes the environment with these items and puts the events in a chronological order.

Storyline - way of Democratic Teaching
Where and when?
The beginning was in 1965, the ‘primary memorandum’ want that primary school integrate in the course different subjects like history, science, health, geography, technology and expressive arts. At that time, teachers did not have lot of experiences to integrate this kind of course and that’s why some strategies had to be developed.
The storyline approach was first developed by a small group of staff tutors. In Jordanhill College of education, Glasgow, Scotland. The founders of storyline name are Steve bell, Sallie Harkness and Fred Rendell. The teachers from Jordanhill worked in close co-operation with teachers in primary schools in West of Scotland. They visited different schools and worked with primary teachers. During to period of thirty years many teachers, head teachers and advisers helped to develop this methodology.
Now the method is used in Scotland, Germany, Netherlands, Iceland, Turkey, Denmark, Scandinavian countries, United States, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Lithuania, Greece and Portugal.

How?
Storyline is above all a teaching method or more correctly how a teacher should approach subjects during the topic work. It is necessary to make the beginning interesting and exciting so the pupils are willing to continue. The main point is that each pupil feels he or she is a part of the story. As important as to know the pupil’s background knowledge is to find out what they don’t know and start teaching from that point.
To plan a story, the teacher asks these questions to herself/himself:
‘What is the story?’(Idea)
‘How much time one we going to use?’ (Time)
‘Which key questions Show the main points?’ (Key questions)
‘How do we begin our storyline?’ (Start)
‘Which happenings do we put in?’ (Happenings)
‘Which activities should be used?’ (Activities)
‘What are the pupils going to produce and present?’ (Documentation)
‘How do we finish the story?’ (Ending)
‘How do we evaluate?’ (Evaluation)
Key questions take the most important place in this method. Key questions are open questions which can not be answered with ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘don’t know’ more like ‘how do you think that…? How would you wish that …?’ the pupils can make their own key questions throughout the work. Creative Works can be visualizing. Teachers make the story possible to involve new points of action or to change environment and perspective.

How we work?
We did the project in a way that all the members of the group know everything about the report. That’s why we have lot of meeting to discuss and analyze together. So first of all, we made a plan of the tasks and meeting that we will have during the different weeks.
Week 41
- Search information about storyline in different sources.
- Reading information.
- Meeting for select the most important ideas about storyline and decide
the type of report (write report or home page). Make a plan for the
report.
Week 43
Week 44
- Finish the report/home page
- Preparation of the presentation, divide the different parts of the report
At the beginning, each member searched information about the method of Storyline in different sources, to know what the method is about. After that we had a meeting to share information and put all in common. We made a plan of our report and divided the work:
> Melda and Leyla: Made the first part about presentation of the method.
> Katka, Sara and Cynthia: Made the second part about the plan lesson.
When the two groups had finished the work, we made again a meeting to share all the information that we found, to modify and discuss some points. When all the members agreed about all the report, we had a meeting to make the blog.
Finally, we met again to prepare the presentation and divided the different parts. We discussed about how to make the presentation, in which way.
It was a very nice group work when everybody can said what they think and we discuss a lot to be agree. We have a good collaboration, cooperation and everybody help each other in the work.
